    Part-month starts and terminations

Convert annual salary to monthly salary by dividing by 12, then multiply by payable working days ÷ total scheduled working days in that month. The same working-day basis must be used in both counts.

    Choose a consistent policy

Employers may use calendar-day or working-day policies subject to contracts and applicable law. This calculator uses working days only. Include paid leave and paid public holidays where they form part of the payable period.

    Gross is not take-home

The result excludes PAYE, UIF, SDL and other deductions or employer costs. Use your payroll system for the actual part-period tax calculation.
