Leave Types and Entitlements

BCEA minimums

• Annual leave — 21 consecutive days, commonly 15 working days per annual cycle
• Sick leave — 30 days (6-day week) or 36 days per 3-year cycle
• Family responsibility — 3 days per annual cycle after 4 months of service
• Maternity — 4 consecutive months unpaid, claimable from UIF
• Parental — 10 consecutive days

Accrual methods

Choose monthly accrual, accrual per hours worked, or an annual upfront allocation. Monthly accrual is the most common for salaried staff.

Custom leave types

Create study leave, unpaid leave, compassionate leave or any company-specific type, and decide whether it is paid, accrues, or reduces the payslip.

Carry-over and forfeiture

Set whether unused leave carries into the next cycle and whether it expires after six months, in line with your policy.
